What makes it distinct, in particular, is the intersection of information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT). OT refers to the networking of operational processes and industrial control systems (ICSs).
Though the interconnectedness provided by IIoT enables faster and more efficient processes, it can also expose industries to threats.
