SUMMARY:ISACA San Diego April Meeting: Cybersecurity – Risk Management: Building Solid Foundations
DESCRIPTION:April ISACA San Diego Chapter event! \nWhere I started in IT and how that career path eventually led me into cybersecurity. I will briefly cover some of the various IT roles I filled along the way and what really helped me and what didn’t. \nWe will also discuss some of the non-technical lessons learned that had a big impact on how I approached cyber and the team building process once I was in upper management roles. Hoping for an interactive session as we discuss in a very honest way what being in cybersecurity is really like. \nSPEAKER: Gary Martino\, CEO at Sicura Networks LLC \nGary has over 20 years of cyber security experience implementing compensating controls and identifying and quantifying risks to comply with PCI\, ISO\, NIST\, and HIPAA regulations. Working across various industries including defense\, healthcare\, hospitality\, sport and leisure to build successful security teams to detect and protect against the latest threats. \nOver the years\, Gary has held various industry certifications in both IT and Security and is currently enjoying retirement and spending much needed time with family.

SUMMARY:ISACA San Diego May Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Agentic AI is not a future scenario. It is operating inside enterprise systems today\, executing transactions\, negotiating contracts\, and accessing data pipelines without human intervention at every step. Most organizations are deploying capability faster than they are building the controls to govern it. That gap is where material risk lives. \nThis session examines what the agentic economy requires from boards\, audit committees\, and internal audit leaders. It covers the structural shift from recommending AI to acting AI\, the identity and credential risks most audit frameworks have not yet addressed\, why existing governance standards — COSO\, COBIT\, SOX ITGC — were not built for continuously operating autonomous systems\, and the four governance exposures internal audit cannot afford to defer. The session draws on formal verification research\, named industry deployments\, and a published practitioner framework to give attendees a concrete basis for action. \nAttendees will leave with a pre-deployment governance checklist\, an accountability mapping structure for agentic workflows\, board-level questions to bring back to their organizations\, and a maturity model for assessing where their audit function stands today. The CAE who establishes agentic AI as a formal audit domain in 2025 and 2026 is not following the profession. They are leading it. August 2\, 2026 is the EU AI Act enforcement date for high-risk AI systems. For many in this room\, the governance work is already overdue.

SUMMARY:WiCyS San Diego - Cyber Speaker Series - Cybersecurity Insurance: What You Need to Know
DESCRIPTION:Join us IN PERSON at the La Jolla/Riford Public Library on Saturday\, May 23rd at 2:00 pm for a must-see presentation about Cybersecurity Insurance by CISO Kevin Rigney. \n\n\nCyber insurance used to be a safety net\, today it’s a stress test of whether your organization actually understands its own risk. Underwriters are no longer just selling policies; they’re interrogating your controls\, your identity architecture\, your incident response muscle\, even your board-level accountability. And here’s the uncomfortable truth: the gap between what companies think they’re protected against and what policies will actually cover in a modern ransomware or AI-enabled attack is widening fast. In this environment\, cyber insurance isn’t a backstop\, it’s a forcing function\, exposing weak assumptions\, rewarding operational discipline\, and redefining what “insurable” security really means. From the days of 3-question surveys insurer and umbrella insurance coverage for cyber to onsite interviews\, actuary analyses by industry\, policy premium coverage options/deductibles and heavily scrutinized claims\, the cyber insurance industry has expanded exponentially over the last 20 years. Kevin Rigney will cover the history of the industry\, the coverage options available for today’s complex extended tech enterprises\, and what considerations may matter most prior to and during an incident.

SUMMARY:ISACA July Event - The Infrastructure Behind the Intelligence: OT Security's Moment Has Arrived
DESCRIPTION:Forget everything you’ve heard about AI security. The story everyone’s missing isn’t a rogue model it’s that every breakthrough we’re chasing runs on electricity. Every data center\, every GPU cluster\, every model running inference at scale depends on grids\, pipelines\, substations\, turbines\, and water systems all powered by operational technology. The AI era isn’t just a software story. It’s an energy and infrastructure story\, and that’s exactly why it’s the most exciting place to be in security right now.
