SUMMARY:Cyber Law\, Risk & Policy Symposium
DESCRIPTION:Please join us at University of San Diego’s Institute for Peace & Justice for our 3rd annual Cyber Law\, Risk & Policy Symposium on Thursday\, November 5\, 2020. \nGlobally regulators are enforcing the growing number of privacy and security laws through repeatedly targeting security failures as their key mechanism to protect confidential and personal information\, including consumer data. Passage of data protection and cyber laws like the California Consumer Privacy Act require lawyers to make informed decisions about “reasonable security measures\,” and technologists to understand the legal risk for failing to implement and comply with such.  The importance of hybrid cyber professionals and collaboration across organizations and industries is critically important. \nThe University of San Diego’s Center for Cyber Security Engineering and Technology will host the Third Annual Cyber Law\, Risk and Policy Symposium to be held at the Institute for Peace & Justice on November 5\, 2020. This one day Symposium explores the intersection of cyber and law and will provide legal skills to technologists\, and technology skills to legal professionals.  Learn about the threats\, solutions\, technologies\, strategies\, and challenges facing the global cyber arena from world thought leaders and industry experts across a wide range of different sectors including critical infrastructure\, insurance\, healthcare\, retail\, government\, and more!  Cyber Law Attendance Certificates will be provided to attendees that attend the entire day.

SUMMARY:CAE Virtual Career Fair 2020
DESCRIPTION:The Centers of Academic Excellence (CAE) in Cybersecurity Community is hosting the fourth annual CAE Virtual Career Fair (VCF)\, sponsored by the National Cybersecurity Training and Education (NCyTE) Center and the National Science Foundation (NSF)\, on September 4\, 2020\, from 9:00 am-1:00 pm PT. Our virtual career fair is unique in that we invite students/alumni from 300+ institutions designated as CAEs in Research (CAE-R)\, Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CDE)\, and Cyber Operations (CAE-CO) to participate. Institutions receive the CAE in Cybersecurity designation after meeting the rigorous requirements of the program set forth by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The standards set forth by the NSA/DHS curriculum guidelines also ensure students from CAE institutions receive a quality cybersecurity education that prepares them for a career in the cyber workforce. \nAs the CAE in Cybersecurity program continues to designate new CAEs\, the number of students participating in the CAE VCF grows each year. Last year\, 1200+ students/alumni participated in the CAE VCF. This year\, the community has an estimated 10\,000+ students graduating from junior colleges and universities seeking jobs in cybersecurity. In addition\, our community has an estimated 20\,000+ students that are eligible for internships in the 2020-2021 academic year. Students/alumni from CAE designated institutions are extremely valuable to any organization as they must meet the rigorous curriculum requirements set forth by the NSA/DHS to graduate. \nSurvey data from the 2019 event indicate both employers and students positively receive the CAE VCF. Many students find careers through the VCF\, and many of the same employers return each year to participate.

SUMMARY:CMTC Telework Cybersecurity: Recommendations for Remote Workforce Risk Management - Guidance for California Manufacturers
DESCRIPTION:For many small and medium-sized manufacturers\, the great teleworking experiment brought on by COVID-19 has been a painful one. The sudden shift to telework poses numerous managerial\, logistical and operational hurdles. To make matters worse\, the needs of a remote workforce amplify cybersecurity risks. \nThe larger and more complex your organization’s digital footprint\, the larger your overall attack surface\, and the higher your probability of experiencing an incident. In order to manage these new changes in the attack surface and mitigate your overall security risk\, cybersecurity policies\, controls\, and technologies must be implemented. \nDuring this webinar\, CMTC Senior Cybersecurity Consultant Jacob Horne will discuss the two-part strategy and the five risk mitigations your company can employ to manage the cybersecurity risks brought on by teleworking.

SUMMARY:National Cyber Security Alliance Webinar: How to implement a software-defined network (SDN) security fabric in AWS and more
DESCRIPTION:You’re Invited!\n\n\n\nJoin SANS and AWS Marketplace to learn how implementing an SDN can enhance visibility and control across multiple virtual private clouds (VPCs) in your network. With an SDN fabric\, you can enable higher granularity of control over lateral traffic between VPCs\, blocking malicious traffic while maintaining normal traffic flow. \n\n\n\n\nIn this webinar: \nSANS and AWS Marketplace will provide guidance on creating and implementing a policy-driven SDN architecture in the cloud. Additionally\, they will present real-world use cases of successful implementations that have been deployed in Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments.
